Bob O'Link Golf Club, is a Private, all-male, 18 hole golf course located in Highland Park, Illinois
The Bob O'Link Golf Course opened for play in 1916. The course was designed by Donald Ross. Modernization of the surrounding areas forced the club to redesign the course in 1924. Having to tear up a Ross design is a bit of a travesty, but when you have C.H. Alison and H.S. Colt coming in for the redesign, it tends to soften the blow. Only a few of the original Ross greens are still in existence, but Alison and Colt did a extraordinary job keeping his theme in mind. The course has also been rennovated by Richard Jacobson.
The course plays longer than the yardage indicates. It has large greens, and water hazards come into play on several holes. Most holes have large, mature trees that can alter your shots if you hit a poor tee shot. The course has one set of tees. The course plays to a par-72 and the tees measure 6,713 yards.
Bob O'Link is about golf. They have a very short list of rules. No ladies, no cell phones, have fun . . . pretty simple. Bob O'Link is a place where golfers are known to play shirtless and stand at the bar in even less. This is a man cave of a club with terrific golf courses attached.
